Eighteen, and Still Becoming

Image placeholderIMG_6674-2.jpg3648 × 5472 px2:3 portraitWebP with JPG fallback

Eighteen feels like standing at the edge of a new chapter, looking back at the girl I used to be and wondering how she ever made it this far.

Growing up, I was shy, quiet, and more comfortable observing from the sidelines than putting myself at the center of things. I found comfort in books and in the little world I created in my head. There was something familiar about being a wallflower, quietly watching life unfold around me.

But somewhere along the way, life began asking me to step forward.

Through new experiences, hardships, friendships, and achievements, I slowly learned that growing up does not mean becoming someone entirely different. It means discovering more of who you already are. I learned to speak when I had something worth saying, to take chances even when I was afraid, and to keep moving forward even when I did not know exactly where the road would lead.

The stories I grew up with became quiet companions along the way. They reminded me that it is okay to feel lost, to wonder where you belong, and to take your time finding your place in the world. They taught me to appreciate the moments that make life meaningful and to find courage even when I am afraid.

I am still learning. I am still figuring things out. There are parts of myself I have yet to discover and a whole world I have yet to see. But I no longer feel the need to have everything figured out before taking the next step.

So, as I step into this new chapter, I carry with me the lessons of the past, the people who helped me along the way, and the courage I have gathered through every season of my life.

Like a wildflower, I hope to grow in my own time and in my own way.

This is my story so far.

There is still so much more to write.

And I am ready.

Love, Rain
